Would it be possible to rename component Z80 to Z80CPU now?
Changing the name now will result in old circuits not working.
But it is possible to do someting like this:
Code:
<item name="Z80" info="CPU" package="Z80/z80" data="Z80/z80"></item>

And would it be possible to swap position of pins /RD a /WR in Z80 logic symbol?
Yes, it will mess old circuits, but it should work.

I think there is no reason to preserve compatibility, becasause it is still trunk and the Z80 was never released in stable branch.

Yes but many people is using it for more than a year.
Their circuits with Z80 will stop to work and they will not know why.

In addition there is the field "info" that can be used for that, so there is an alternative solution with no harm.
Indeed the actual name of the chip is just "Z80".

Same thing could be said about the DMA chip (and others).
As far as I know the actual name of the original Z80 DMA chip is Z8410.
In my opinion, this is the name to use, then you could add: info="DMA" or info="Z80 DMA".
